DMV
requires students under the age of 18 to complete 14 periods of behind the wheel instruction with a certified instructor. This is a 7-day course where the student drives for a period of 50 minutes then observes another student for a period of 50 minutes each day. On the 7th day of training the student will be evaluated and if they successfully complete the evaluation they will be given an interim/temporary paper license.
DMV
will notify the student when it is time to attend court and then receive their permanent license. This notification is normally done within 6 months and is sent to the home of record as listed at
DMV.
We follow a set of required driving maneuvers that are prescribed by DMV and ensure the student grows in experience and confidence. We apply these requirements based upon the student’s skills and comfort level. We challenge them as they progress
O’Neill’s Driving School instructors are very experienced, are licensed, bonded and insured. We have flexible scheduling and we will pick up at school or at home and we will drop off at home.
All of our vehicles are equipped with instructor assist equipment and are inspected by DMV, licensed, and insured. We assume the responsibility for insurance when your student is in our vehicle.
As a note: DMV requires 7 separate days, 2 periods per day, to allow the student to train and grow in experience though consistent guidance. It is illegal to drive students for fewer than 7 days and it is not an effective way for the student to train and gain confidence.
