Online Driver's Education Course

On-Line Driver’s Education Course:

O’Neill’s Driving School partners with the National Driver Training Institute to offer a state-approved online course option for new drivers. This course is computer generated and is self-paced. Please follow the course procedure below to enroll and complete the course.

Course Requirements and Registration Process:

The program consists of at least 30 hours of instructions and includes components about alcohol safety, drug abuse awareness, aggressive driving, distracted driving, pedestrian and bicycle safety, handicapped parking, fuel efficient driving practices, motorcycle awareness and organ and tissue awareness as required by law. You must be at least 15 years and 6 months old to take the online driver education course. All individuals who elect to take the classroom components of the driver’s education course online must take the online course through a DMV licensed driver training school. In order to benefit from the course, you must be able to work independently and be comfortable with using a computer.

To Register and start:

1. The Student must register for the course by filling out and submitting the form below.

2. Following registration, the Student will then receive a username/password via email from ONEILL’s to access the website for the online course at the following site:

www.nationaldrivertraining.com

3. The Student can then login and begin the taking the course.

4. Upon completion of the course, the Student will receive a directive to return to O’Neill’s to take the final exam.

5. The Student will be given written verification of completion of the theory portion of driver education. This document verifies to O’Neill’s that the Student has completed this portion of the course and is ready to take the final exam.

NOTE: Per state requirements the final exam is an online exam and is offered only at our office location:

When the on-line course has been completed please notify ONEILL’s Office 757.890.2097 and schedule a time and date for taking the final exam.

Testing is done by appointment only.

On the day of testing, you must bring the following to the test site:

• Photo identification (DMV issued identification card, school issued identification card, valid passport or military identification)

• Proof of completion of the online driver education course

• A completed “Parental Consent for Online Driver Education Examination” (DTS 62), if you are under age 18 available at (https://www.dmv.virginia.gov)

• Proof of completion of the additional 90-minute parent/teen course if you are under 18 and live in Planning District 8 (counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William, and cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Manassas, and Manassas Park)

• The online driver training school will provide a computer for testing.

At ONEILL’s a certified course instructor will administer the final exam, grade the exam, and share the results with the Student. If the Student passes the course, the instructor will receive the certificate of completion for that Student. The Student can then continue with the behind-the-wheel portion of the course or be issued the certificate if there is a request for transfer. If the Student fails the examination, the Student will be allowed to review any section of the completed course to prepare to take the examination again.
